Doe to popular demand, a number of rare early paintings by Ponckle have been unearthed and are now available to purchase from this web site. They include “Fabric Bird in St Ives”, made by Ponckle when she had only just arrived in St Ives from Mallorca. The work shows the transition from her fabric portraits of exotic birds created on Mallorce, to her colourful paintings of St Ives scenes. This is the only painting in existence of its kind by Ponckle.
Other unearthed paintings include an unfinished self-portrait with a large ginger cat in the Sail Loft, Ponckle’s home of 20 years in St Ives, the only remaining painting in a series of self portraits with bold striped backgrounds, and a large fabric and paint self portrait from the late 1980s, also showing Ponckle’s transition from one style to another.
All these paintings are available to purchase from Paintings for Sale
